My Best Friend’s Wedding is directed by P. J. Hogan, comes from TriStar Pictures. It is taken in 1997. Lots of super stars joined this film like Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Dermot Mulroney, Rupert Everett and Rachel Griffiths.

The film was very successful and got appreciate reviews from both media and audience. And it still one of the top 8 highest grossing movies around the world of 1997 and was one of the most classic romantic comedy films.

Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts) was a New York restaurant critic; she was 27 years old that year. Before her 28 years old birthday, she got a call from her longtime friend Michael O’Neil (Dermot Mulroney). He told her that he was going to marry Kimberly Wallace (Cameron Diaz) who came from a wealthy family. And she was 20 years old studying at University of Chicago. She was socked because they have promised that if they were still single when they were 28 years old, they would get married, and now it’s just 4 days left and he would marry someone else.

Julianne is upset when she got the message, she was very angry that he would marry someone he had known for such a short time. She knew she loved Michael and she went to Chicago and wanted to ruin the wedding. And then she met Kimberly in Chicago who asked her to be the maid of honor. This caused lots of stories like she took the new couple to the karaoke bar and find that Kimberly was a terrible singer, what’s more she asked a gay friend George (Rupert Everett) to pretend as her lover to make Michael jealous.

All of those are failed, and George asked Julianne to tell him directly. On the morning of the wedding, Julianne told Michael that she loved him and wanted to marry him. She kissed him passionately. Kimberly saw this and ran away, Michael ran after her, Julianne chased him unsuccessfully. Then she realized that she had lost Michael and apologized to her. Michael married Kimberly and Julianne gave her best wishes for them.
